Santa Ana (canton)
Santa Ana is the name of the 9th canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 61.42 km²,〔Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), 2001.〕 and has a population of 48,879.〔Preliminary 2011 Census Data (INEC), February 2012.〕 The capital city of the canton is Santa Ana.
The triangular-shaped canton is delineated by the Río Virilla on the north and stretches south as it narrows to include a portion of the Cerros de Escazú.
